A bit ABOUT ME
Hey! I'm Marc. I'm a musician that plays drums! I've been playing for well over 20 years now, and I consistently strive to be a better player and teacher. I still practice daily and try to always be learning, having in the past studied with exceptional teachers, including Andre Luke who studied at Musicians Institute in LA, and jazz monster Peter Auret! I have worked, for the last 15 years, as a freelance drummer, recording artist and teacher. Having grown up in Johannesburg, South Africa, I now live and work in Dublin, Ireland.
I have spent years refining my skills as a professional drummer and I have extensive playing experience as a freelancer in many corporate and cover bands. I have also played theatre shows at: Sun City theatre and the Carousel casino (Music Evolution), toured with Rocco Devilliers with his “Liberocco” theatre show, played “Stargaze” at The Soundstage in Midrand and toured throughout South Africa playing the “Eric Clapton - Slowhand” tribute show. I am proficient in Latin, Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Rock and Pop drumming styles.
Some artists I’ve worked with:
Michael Lowman, Rocco DeVilliers, Float Parade, Janie Bay, Eugene Jensen, Nic Dinnie, Cameron Bruce, Ziza Mhlongo, Justin Swart, Natalie Chapman, The Johnny Late Band, Peter Hoven, Melanie Lowe, Eva Morgan, Ramaine Barreiro-Lloyd, Krystle Temmerman, the Ragoo, Louis du Toit, Men of Mountains, Gangsterdam, CrashCarBurn, I believe in Giants, Dylan Pretorius.
TEACHING:
I started teaching shortly after completing full time study with my long time teacher and mentor, Andre Luke. I have maintained my teaching career from my home studio from 2006 until present. My background in music theory and piano study lends to a structured style of teaching where I focus on the basics and developing a strong ability to read music, thus developing a solid framework from which students can grow musically.
Other Instruments:
I also play guitar, piano, and bass guitar. From time to time I do freelance composition work for independent content creators.
